Today we will talk about the reported speech, and let's have some small tips for this topic:
1. We must learn the most common verbs in their verbal times
2. see what verb the execution is working with
3.REMEMBER: With reported speech, the pattern is the following:
- simple present becomes simple past
- future tenses become conditional
- present continuous becomes past continuous
- present perfect becomes past perfect
- commands (ex. come!) become infinitive (ex. to come)
Examples:
- I am Exhausted!
He said he was exhausted.
Present Simple.......... Past Simple
- I am booking a flight now
He said he was booking a flight at that moment.
present continuous.............. past continuous
- I drove to Paris yesterday.
He said he had driven to Paris the day before.
Past simple........Past perfect
